Advanced technology for a changing ocean
At the heart of Deep Blue’s innovation is our flagship environmental monitoring system — an integrated solution built around the patent-pending Deep Blue Surface Buoy™ and its complementary Subsurface Array™. Together, they deliver high-resolution, real-time data across marine and freshwater environments, supporting commercial, research and government initiatives worldwide.
A modular, scalable platform
Our system is designed for flexibility and performance under the most demanding conditions, whether deployed in freshwater or saltwater and anywhere from the arctic to the equator. Key components include:
Deep Blue Surface Buoy™
A rugged, solar-powered platform equipped with advanced telemetry, GPS, meteorological sensors and multiple reliable communications methods.
Deep Blue Subsurface Array™
A network of tethered sensor nodes deployed at multiple depths collecting detailed measurements.
Engineered for long-term autonomous operation and rapid deployment, this platform answers the urgent global need for marine intelligence. Whether you're tracking the effects of climate change, managing fisheries, monitoring offshore energy infrastructure or enhancing maritime security, Deep Blue delivers data that drives action.
Innovation & Expertise in Action
Dr. Ed Kwoka serves as the lead designer for Deep Blue Marine Research, bringing a robust background in both electrical and mechanical engineering to the role. As a graduate of Thomas Edison State University’s Applied Science and Technologies program and MIT’s Additive Manufacturing Labs program, Dr. Kwoka oversees all aspects of design and manufacturing in-house at Deep Blue’s Fort Lauderdale and Philadelphia facilities. He provides the technical versatility needed for agile, precision-driven development, ensuring that each solution is engineered to perform in the most demanding marine environments.
In addition, his expertise as an Advanced Technical Scuba Diver offers unique, firsthand insights from both above and below the waterline—enhancing the innovation and effectiveness of Deep Blue’s marine research technologies.
